Hi everyone,

For the past 3–3.5 years, we’ve been navigating the difficult and emotional journey of infertility. After countless tests and appointments, and years of advocating for herself, Taylor underwent surgery in February 2025 and was finally diagnosed with endometriosis. During that procedure, her tubes were cleared, but despite our continued hope and effort, we’ve still been unable to conceive.

Around June 2025, Taylor began medication with the plan to move forward with IUI treatments. Unfortunately, after several months on medication that took a heavy toll on her mental health, we were only able to complete one transfer. Around that same time, we were fortunate to secure an appointment (after a four-month wait!) with a fertility specialist to discuss IVF, which had been on our hearts for a while as this whole process happens in slow-moving steps.

After reviewing all of our history, the specialist advised that more IUIs or medication would likely not be in our best interest and that IVF would give us our best chance at growing our family.

In Hawaii, providers are required to cover the first round of IVF, which we are so grateful for. Though, the first round often doesn't stick and requires multiple rounds. But we are hopeful! However, there are still significant out-of-pocket costs, including:

-Genetic testing (to help increase the chances of a successful pregnancy)

-Additional medical expenses and changing insurance costs

-Extra appointments and testing due to the higher-risk nature of IVF pregnancies

In total, we anticipate about $10,000 in uncovered costs.
