For the past 3.5+ years, we have been navigating the difficult, emotional, and exhausting journey of infertility.

After countless tests, appointments, medications, and years of advocating for herself, Taylor underwent surgery in February 2025 and was finally diagnosed with endometriosis. During that procedure, her tubes were cleared, giving us renewed hope that we might finally be able to conceive.

Unfortunately, we continued to struggle.

Around June 2025, we began the process of IUI treatments. The medication took a significant toll on her physically and emotionally na ultimately failed. Around that same time, after a four-month wait, we were finally able to meet with a fertility specialist to discuss IVF.

After reviewing our history, our specialist advised that continuing with more IUIs or medication would likely not be in our best interest and that IVF would give us our best chance at growing our family.

We were incredibly grateful that, in Hawaii, our insurance benefits covered our first round of IVF. Even with that coverage, however, there were still significant expenses that weren't covered, including genetic testing, additional medical expenses, medications, supplements, ultrasounds and appointments.

After going through the IVF process, we finally reached the moment we had been waiting and praying for.

On August 3, 2026, we had our first frozen embryo transfer.

And it worked.

For the first time in this long journey, we were pregnant.

We got to see those two lines. We got to imagine meeting our baby. We got to call him our son.

And then, heartbreakingly, we lost him.

After everything it took to get to that moment, experiencing a pregnancy and then losing him has been incredibly difficult. We are grieving, but we are also trying to hold onto hope for the future and continue moving forward.

Where We Are Now

Our insurance benefits for IVF have now been exhausted. This means that our next frozen embryo transfer will be entirely out of pocket.

We aren't able to get one exact quote, but we currently anticipate that the next transfer will cost approximately $4,000–$7,000 out of pocket.

There are also other expenses that have become part of this process.

We are doing weekly acupuncture out of pocket, and we plan to do two acupuncture sessions on the day of our next transfer like last time. We also have out-of-pocket medication expenses and supplements that aren't covered by insurance.

On top of the medical expenses, we've made the difficult decision for Taylor to virtually stop working for the time being.

This isn't a decision we made lightly. This process has taken an enormous physical and emotional toll, and we and our medical team believe that giving her body and nervous system time to rest, recover, and settle is an important part of moving forward and having a successful pregnancy. Stepping away from work means losing a significant source of income at the same time that our medical expenses are increasing.

We are hoping to raise enough to help cover the cost of our next transfer, medications, acupuncture, supplements, and medical expenses.

We know that asking for help can be humbling, especially after already sharing our story and receiving so much support. But we also know how incredibly loved and supported we have been throughout this process.
