Who are you and what are you raising funds for?
I am Nana Atwere Yaw Adaenu II, also known as David Mullins, President and Founder of The Assin Foundation (Assin Foundation Website ), a Ghanaian NGO registered as CG038882020. Since 2015, we've been dedicated to preserving Ghanaian heritage and empowering rural communities in regions like Assin Praso and Anomabo. This campaign raises funds for the Assin Praso Heritage Dance Troupe – a group of talented young dancers we've supported since 2019 under our 2019 MOU for the Assin Praso Heritage Park. We're aiming for €10,000 to equip and prepare 10–15 kids and trainers for international festivals in Europe, starting with essential tools like smartphones, cameras, video stands, audio equipment, and costumes to promote their performances globally.
Why is this cause important to you?
This cause is deeply personal and central to our Foundation's mission. The Heritage Dance Troupe embodies Ghanaian cultural resilience – these young dancers, including brothers who self-trained to secure 2nd place at the Kumasi finals, represent the spirit we aim to nurture. Despite challenges like delays in the Heritage Park development, their perseverance inspires us. As we restructure to merge with the Ghana Artists Association and Anomabo Development Foundation, supporting the troupe advances our goal of sustainable youth development, cultural preservation, and community upliftment. It's about creating opportunities for rural kids to shine on bigger stages, fostering pride and economic growth in Ghana.
How will the funds be used?
Funds will be allocated strategically:
- €3,000 for equipment (smartphones, cameras, video stands, audio gear) to record and promote performances.
- €2,000 for training workshops, costumes, and media marketing (e.g., editing content for our website's booking page).
- €5,000 for travel preparation (visas, applications, initial festival fees) once invitations are secured.
This phased approach ensures transparency and impact, with receipts shared via campaign updates.
How will the beneficiary receive the funds?
All funds will be withdrawn to The Assin Foundation's verified bank account in Ghana (via GoFundMe's secure transfer). As the beneficiary, the Foundation will directly allocate resources to the troupe (e.g., purchasing equipment and facilitating training), with oversight by our board. Donors will receive updates on usage, and any surplus will support related youth programmes.
For Ghanaian donors using MOMO, contributions can be made via linked PayPal or direct bank transfer details shared upon request.
