Hello Friends, Family, and Amazing Strangers, Our family recently received news that no parent is ever prepared to hear. Our sweet 3-year-old daughter, Serenity, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor located in her brainstem. Her diagnosis has completely turned our world upside down and changed what everyday life looks like for our entire family. Serenity has already undergone brain surgery for a biopsy, and because of where her tumor is located, it cannot simply be surgically removed, it is an inoperable brain tumor . She has now started six weeks of radiation treatment, and for the time being, our focus is getting her through these treatments while keeping her as comfortable, happy, and strong as possible. Once she completes radiation, her doctors will evaluate how she is doing and determine what the next steps in her care will be. Until then, we are taking everything one day at a time and continuing to explore every possible option for our baby girl. Right now, our biggest priority is Serenity’s quality of life. We want her days to be filled with as much love, comfort, happiness, and normalcy as possible not just hospitals, doctors, procedures, and appointments. She is only 3 years old, and despite everything happening around her, she is still our sweet little girl who deserves to play, laugh, make memories, and simply be a kid. This diagnosis has affected every part of our lives. Serenity requires constant care and frequent medical appointments, which has greatly affected my ability to work. Her dad, Joey, has taken on a tremendous amount of responsibility to keep our household going while also being there as a father and supporting Serenity through this journey. We are both doing everything we can to hold our family together and be present for all three of our children during a situation we never imagined we would face.
