We’re raising money for Friends of the Cancer Centre Northern Ireland, a local charity that provides vital support to people and families affected by cancer.
My partner, Sam Thompson, and my brother, Owen Peden, are both running the Belfast Half Marathon to raise funds and awareness for this incredible organisation.
Like so many families, cancer has touched our lives personally. Sam’s dad, Gary, was diagnosed with cancer and, thankfully, is now in remission. Our family are currently supporting our mum, Christine, who is fighting stage 3 triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive and challenging form of the disease.
Through these journeys, we’ve learned just how underfunded cancer services are in Northern Ireland and how long delays in referrals and treatment are impacting lives. Too many people are being diagnosed later than they should be, and for some, those delays mean reaching a point where their cancer becomes incurable.
Friends of the Cancer Centre does incredible work supporting patients and families through some of the hardest moments of their lives, offering care, comfort and practical help when it’s needed most.
By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping to make a real difference for people facing cancer right now in Northern Ireland. Every donation, no matter the size, is hugely appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support.
