Our Daughter Was Stolen From Us
Donation protected
We are, or should I say were, a small family in the 5th of 6 months into our adoption of Nene. My wife and I had been trying to have a family for 10 years that included failed attempts with in vitro and a lost pregnancy one week after the sudden passing of "Sergio", my father in law. After rebuilding ourselves we decided to adopt. After several years, considerable resources and several opportunities that weren't quite right, we were presented with Nene. A beautiful, brilliant & bright star that instantly lit up our lives! We love her and she loves us. She was saved by her grandparents from homelessness living in a car with her drug and alcohol dependent parents. Her grandmother wanted Nene to have parents like any other child. To have opportunities in life. Now in our late years of familial prime, Nene is our last chance at having a family. The adoption agency, without warning took Nene from our home giving us 10 minutes to get her things together and muster a game face to kiss her goodbye and tell her "have a nice weekend at grandma's". We haven't seen Nene since that day, August 14th and may never see her again. The grandparents wanted her to stay with us, we obviously wanted her with us, it was the agency that wanted to take her from us! The agency, and more specifically the social worker representing grandma, didn't like us. She didn't understand my wife's passion (my wife moved here from Italy when we got married 12 years ago). She ignored that we were attempting this during a pandemic (new parents 24/7), manipulated the truth, used our confidential words of concern during Vennae's meltdowns against us, manufactured fear of Nene's future and firmly twisted the arm of grandma to accept Nene back into their home where she ultimately is not wanted. The grandfather shared that it was the agency that convinced (coerced) them and that they still want the adoption to be finalized with us. We love them and they love us. Our only option at this point is to take legal action against the agency. They are morally corrupt, they have each other's back and are standing firm with their decision. Why is it both families want this adoption to happen, yet the agency is accepting the opinion of an unhinged employee and preventing Nene from having a bright future while destroying our chance to be parents? Ladies, picture yourself carrying a lifelong desire to be a mommy, living the dream for 5 months only to have your baby snatched from your arms never to be seen again? I had just taught her one week earlier to ride her bike without training wheels. She had made the transition to our family! Our lives have been turned upside down and we're not going to give up! We were a loving family unit and we are going to do what is necessary to make that happen again. Vennae was and is our daughter. We never realized we could love an adopted child with a hard background as much as we love Nene. Probably more than a birth child simply because of what she has been through in her short life. We are asking for your help with our ongoing legal fees. We are not made of money and the pandemic has taken its financial toll on us. We cannot express the gratitude we have for your contributions and will forever keep you and yours in our prayers!
