Help Us Care for Our Dad in His Final Days & Funeral Support

Our dad is in his final days after a 2.5-year battle with stage 4 prostate cancer. We’ve been caring for him at home, but the financial strain of time off work, covering bills, and upcoming funeral costs has been overwhelming. We’re asking for support to help us get through this heartbreaking time and give Dad the farewell he deserves.

Hi everyone,

We are reaching out during one of the hardest times of our lives. Our dad has stage 4 prostate cancer, which has spread through his bones, spine, and now into his brain. He has been bravely fighting for over two and a half years, with many setbacks along the way, yet he continued to fight. He is the strongest person we know. Watching him go through this has been the hardest experience of our lives. Sadly, he is now on his deathbed and only has a few days left with us.

A few months ago, Dad moved from Toowoomba to Brisbane so he could spend his final stage of life with us—his kids. We wanted to give him the best care and love possible at home. To do this, my brother made the difficult decision to quit his job to be Dad’s full-time carer, while my sister and I have been juggling work, hospital trips, and caring for Dad together. During this time, my sister and I have also had to cover our brother’s bills since he hasn’t been working, which has been a real financial strain on top of everything else.

This journey has been incredibly hard—emotionally, physically, and financially. Between time off work, covering rent, food, bills, and everyday living expenses, we are really struggling to keep our heads above water. We also know we’ll need to take more time off work when Dad passes away, which will make things even tougher. On top of that, funeral costs are just around the corner, which adds more stress during a time we just want to spend with Dad.

We don’t like asking for help, but right now we need it. We are creating this fundraiser to help cover:

Rent, bills, and basic living expenses while we grieve and adjust

Funeral expenses to give Dad the farewell he deserves
