We’re starting this fundraiser to help our loving parents, who are in a dire financial situation right now. Sadly, our mom is in the final stage of dementia, and our dad has worked tirelessly to sustain them as this awful disease has progressed. A month ago, our mom was approved for hospice, which coincided with our dad getting denied pension from the VA. (We had been certain he would get this because he is a war time Vietnam veteran.) Unfortunately the social security money they receive from the government is not able to support them on a month basis, so we are looking for support from our beautiful community to cover the deficit that will now be occurring. Any amount you can offer would really help our dad continue to care for our mom. It is important that our dad is able to give back to those able to contribute significantly. He has always been an artist, drawing from what is around him at the beach or at a cafe. We have set up an Instagram account with his work you can peruse: @sketchesfromaustin. He’s doing a lot of drawings right now of our mom, as he’s not able to leave her side now for very long. So, to give back, we are setting up the thresholds below as offerings.
