What: The construction of Bungonia Village Park's new Amenities Block marks an important milestone for our community. It is a project that will restore a vital public service that has been absent from our historic village since 2019, while providing modern, accessible facilities for residents, visitors and travellers for decades to come.

Who: This fundraising campaign as an opportunity for everyone who values Bungonia to play a part in delivering a lasting community asset!

Why: As with many construction projects across Australia in recent years, we faced an unprecedented cost escalation. Between the time we secured government grant funding and the receipt of construction tenders, construction costs increased, dramatically. Our grants (significant, valued investments) could no longer meet the full cost of construction.

Before entering into construction contracts—through the extraordinary generosity of a private community supporter—we secured the financial backing necessary to proceed.

Our fundraising campaign is not to enable construction to continue but to enable us to draw as little as possible from our generous community supporter and their personal financial commitment. Their willingness to stand behind this project is an extraordinary act of faith in our community.

But they are a private individual—not a bank—and our ambition is to ensure that we make as few demands on their generosity as possible. And if we do access those funds, we are committed to repaying that support by end-November 2026, when construction is due to complete.

What you will be building with us: A new Amenities Block with accessible public toilets, adult- and baby-change facilities, a warm shower, accessible pathways and accessible parking. Plus, a new power supply, a water treatment facility and landscaping.

Located within Bungonia Village Park—the green heart of our village—these facilities will serve residents, visitors and the growing number of people who come to experience the remarkable heritage and natural beauty of our region.
