Our BPE Teacher's Son Needs Bone Marrow Transplant
Donation protected
My son still describes Mrs. Jarvis, his first grade teacher at Baldwin Park Elementary, as one of the absolute best in the business (in his expert 8-year-old opinion)! We are lucky to have such incredible, loving, kind teachers at BPE and Mrs. Jarvis is no doubt one of them. What many have not known is that while she dedicated so much to our kids at school, her own young son Julian was battling a life threatening condition. Julian was born with Sickle Cell Disease, a genetic disease that causes debilitating pain, stroke, heart and kidney disease, compromised immune system and ultimately early death. He has had countless emergency room visits and overnight hospital stays in the first few years of his life with mom or dad by his side. This past June, at 3 years old, Julian was able to receive a bone marrow transplant donated by his 5 year old brother Jaylen in hopes it will cure this disease. Mrs. Jarvis took the year off from teaching to care for him during this critical and high risk process, most of which were spent either in the hospital or trying to stay as safe as possible from catching an illness at home. I would love to see how our BPE community could come together to show one of our own our support in fighting for this sweet boy and his amazing family who are fighting the ultimate battle for his life and future!
