Our beautiful girl has Leukaemia

I took this picture of Sophia at 6pm on Tuesday evening (June 26th) at Harrogate Hospital.  We thought she had tonsillitis. 10 minutes after this, I heard the news that every parent dreads - she almost certainly had blood cancer and it was probably Leukaemia. It was confirmed on Thursday June 28th - exactly a week after her 3rd birthday.

No words can describe how we feel, but we are so upset and scared as you can probably imagine.

Those that know Sophia will know that she is beautiful inside and out. She’s a funny, bright, strong and independent young woman!  We are getting through the emotion and shock as best we can... and crossing everything in the hope she will beat this. 

We have been so lucky already and we have a side-room in the hospital full of wonderful gifts for Sophia. People have been asking what to buy her and honestly, we really can’t fit anything more in here!

But now more than ever, we want to do lovely things with her to make memories WHEN she is out of hospital. Those things we talked about doing in a few years (Lapland, Skiing, Disneyland etc) are things we now want to do as soon as humanly possible! And the thought of doing those things is going to be something that keeps us going!

We’re really not expecting anything and I hope you don’t think we’re being presumptuous, but instead of sending a gift, please could you make a donation to the Fifi Fun Fund?!

I hope that’s not too cheeky and you understand why we are doing this.
