Hi my name is Methuka and I’m fundraising for the Gamlathge family. As some of you may know, a cyclone has swept through all of Sri Lanka causing mass flooding and landslides resulting in many people losing their lives and losing their homes. Unfortunately, the Gamlathge family are part of the people who have lost everything they have worked tirelessly to build. As shown in the pictures below, their car and house have been damaged beyond repair. During the peak of the flooding, they had to spend 26 hours on the roof of their house waiting for a rescue team without food or water due to their whole house being submerged in flood water. Both parents work incredibly hard to provide their sons with everything they need to have a good future but unfortunately due to these unforeseen circumstances, they have lost everything. The whole Gamlathge family have a special place in my heart as they are like a second family to me which is why I am starting this gofundme to help them in any way possible. The funds raised will go towards helping them get back on their feet after going through such a traumatic experience. With their house being completely destroyed and all belongings inside also being destroyed, this money will go towards helping them slowly be able to afford things such as textbooks, clothes, a fridge and other necessities. Osha and Thenul are just 18 and 14 with ambitions and goals just like the rest of us but now face incredibly hard times ahead. Any donations no matter the amount would have a monumentally positive impact on their lives therefore any donation would be appreciated.
