Orsburn Baby Heart Surgery

Elena went in for a routine ultrasound. During the ultrasound they found baby Joe has a heart defect. Elena and I took a road trip to Colorado Childrens on Friday to confirm this diagnosis. We spoke with the specialists to learn what the future holds and start setting up a care plan. As soon as Baby is born he will need to be assessed by the pediatric cardiologist, and the NICU specialists. They will determine when exactly when he will need to go for heart surgery. Unfortunately Albuquerque does not have the specialists that Elena and Baby will need for the remainder of her pregnancy and his care after. So doctors are having her relocate to Aurora Colorado in a few weeks until she delivers. Dad is working on joining her too! Then depending on how baby continues to grow they may choose to induce baby early. So it looks like we may have a Christmas baby. Right now they believe baby will need heart surgery but won't know how soon for sure until he is born. He will have some genetic testing as well. If he comes back that he has the genetic syndrome, it could complicate things further. Both Elena and Joe are praying that it is just the one heart issue, but regardless Baby Joe is already loved by all of us. They could really use your prayers and good thoughts. Elena, Joe and Big sister Addy are a military family and live states away from family and had just purchased their first home. They live on a strict budget and never above their means. If you could help this family with some of the unexpected traveling costs, the costs for mom to stay in Colorado and some of the unexpected expenses it will be greatly appreciated and relieve an already stressful situation.
