Emergency Orphanage Funding
Hello Friends!
Many of you have traveled down to orphanages with us in years past, and those of you who have been to the Ebenezer Orphanage in Tijuana know first hand how amazing its directors are - Pastor Freddy Duarte and his wife Eva Duarte - both as people and leaders in their community. They made the decision to move to Mexico and began taking in kids off the streets to live with them full-time in their rented apartment in Tijuana. A story all the more amazing when you consider they moved to Mexico from the U.S. where Eva worked as a nurse and Pastor Freddy headed a congregation, and where they raised their kids after becoming fully naturalized in the US. After starting with a few kids, they now care for 35 - their family has grown.
They are beyond incredible people. And they need help. Covid has shut down Pastor Freddy's main source of raising money for basic necessities. He hasn't been able to raise money from speaking to churches in the US for over 6 months now. My hope is that we can raise 3 months of operations revenues to see them through the end of the pandemic.
The kids are down to 1-2 meals a day (and mostly beans and rice). We are trying to raise 35K. Anything you can give is helpful. Thanks so much!
Best,
Johnny, Lindsey, Lauren & Alexi
