We are a group of Curtin University students travelling to rural Mongolia to build and upgrade infrastructure for a local orphanage. This money will go to the building materials we need for the construction and development of different projects around this orphanage. We are traveling with 17 other students from Curtin University as part of this international practicum program. We aim to build facilities around the orphanage to increase the quality of life for the community.
Jovan Couronne, Amelie Scurfield, Sienna de Jong, and Sooriya Ramanathan will work on the Ger Platform.
Finally, Willow McGuigan, Sam Sanabria, Grace Murphy, Amy Drok, and Dani Norrish will build the Yarning circle.
By collaborating with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology on this project in Gachuurt at the Lotus Children’s Centre, we aim to build an expansion to their outdoor kitchen area as well as a firepit with sheltered seating.
There is a current firepit area at the orphanage, however it is unsheltered with no seating. We will design and build a proper sheltered seating area, as well as upgrading the fire pit. This necessary upgrade would provide them with a nice community area, and shelter to protect them from harsh weather.
Contributions towards the project would be greatly appreciated- your support in any form is what helps change the lives of these communities. The more money we raise, the more we can help this community. We are endlessly grateful for your support!
