Our names are Autumn, and Frank. We’re a young couple newly settling into life in Victoria British Columbia.

We are seeking your support as we work to adopt our nephew, Orion. After facing lifelong challenges with health and employment, his mother Haiden came to us in September a year ago to ask us to adopt him. Autumn has been one of the most stable figures in Orion’s life. He’s had a tough time in school, and a tough time generally given the instability and poverty Haiden has had to work through.

Over the summer Orion was able to visit us at our home. He fit right into our little family, and we loved being able to take care of him. It was clear how much support he needs. Right now, he’s behind in school, struggling to manage his emotions, and learning some basic life skills. At the same time, he is one of the most thoughtful, compassionate, and friendly children you could ever meet.

We are desperate to be able to provide him with the stability and care he needs.

Living in Canada while Orion and Haiden live in the US makes this an international adoption. We have learned through this process that international adoption is wildly expensive.

Even though this is a family adoption by the time we have finished this will have cost nearly $50,000. Thanks to our savings and the generosity of friends and family – especially Grandpa Mike and Grandma Katie – we have been able to cover all the start up costs and made significant progress.

The good news is that we have crossed all the major legal hurdles and have been told that finishing the remaining steps to adoption should only take another three to four months. The bad news is that many fees are coming due, and we are short of covering them all.

Your help will mean the world in covering the final legal and agency fees that will allow us to finalize the adoption and bring Orion home. We are asking for $15,500 which would completely close the gap from what we and our generous family members have been able to pay, and what is needed to finish this adoption.
