Mi chiamo Bussi Filippo, sono nato a Monrovia, in Liberia, da padre italiano e madre liberiana. All’età di 2 anni, nel 1983, la mia famiglia si è trasferita in Italia, dove ho svolto tutto il mio percorso scolastico e sono cresciuto.
Durante l’infanzia e l’adolescenza ho sempre avuto una grande passione: il calcio.
Giocavo con continuità e molte persone intorno a me erano convinte che avessi le possibilità per arrivare a livelli importanti. Il mio sogno era diventare un calciatore professionista, non solo per realizzarmi, ma perché avevo già allora un’idea chiara: tornare un giorno in Liberia e costruire un campo da calcio per i bambini.
Purtroppo, nel 1997, è venuto a mancare mio padre.
Da quel momento la mia vita ha preso una direzione diversa e molte cose sono cambiate, compreso il mio percorso sportivo. Il sogno non si è spento, ma è rimasto in sospeso.
Nel 2005 sono tornato in Liberia per la prima volta dopo tanti anni, trovando un Paese segnato da una lunga guerra civile.
La distruzione non era solo nelle strade o negli edifici, ma soprattutto nelle persone.
Ciò che mi ha colpito più di tutto è stata la presenza di tantissimi bambini orfani, soli, senza punti di riferimento.
In mezzo a tutto questo, però, ho visto qualcosa di straordinario:
un talento incredibile. Bambini che sapevano giocare a calcio, ballare, cantare, con una naturalezza che non avevo mai visto altrove. La cosa più sconvolgente era che nessuno di loro aveva mai studiato o ricevuto una formazione per ciò che sapeva fare.
Oggi, a distanza di vent’anni, sono padre di tre figli, ho un’attività nel centro di Tivoli e lavoro come responsabile della sicurezza presso un’azienda di Roma.
La vita mi ha dato responsabilità, stabilità e consapevolezza. E quel sogno, rimasto in sospeso per anni, oggi è tornato più forte di prima.
Negli ultimi tempi non sono solo in questo percorso.
Un gruppo di circa dieci amici ha deciso di affiancarmi concretamente, e insieme abbiamo già compiuto un primo piccolo ma significativo gesto.
Abbiamo aiutato una famiglia che viveva in una baracca che si allagava ogni volta che pioveva. Con circa 500 euro siamo riusciti a:
• acquistare un letto, perché dormivano su materassi bagnati,
• sistemare in modo essenziale la baracca in cui vivevano,
• garantire cibo per almeno un mese.
Sappiamo bene che questo è solo una goccia in mezzo al mare, ma per noi è stato un inizio concreto, e ne siamo profondamente fieri.
È la dimostrazione che, anche con poco, si può fare qualcosa di reale.
Il mio obiettivo ora è realizzare un orfanotrofio con un campo da calcio annesso in Liberia, un luogo sicuro dove i bambini possano:
• vivere,
• studiare,
• crescere,
• e coltivare i propri talenti, nello sport e non solo.
Mi è stato consigliato di aprire una raccolta su GoFundMe.
Ammetto di essere scettico, ma credo che tentare non nuoccia, soprattutto quando la causa è aiutare il prossimo, in questo caso dei bambini.
Attualmente mi trovo nella fase iniziale del progetto.
Nei prossimi giorni avrò un incontro con un amico architetto, al quale spiegherò nel dettaglio la mia idea e il percorso da seguire.
Tutto sarà documentato: spese, ricevute, fatture e avanzamenti del progetto.
Il mio impegno è quello di tenere tutti i donatori costantemente aggiornati, passo dopo passo, con la massima trasparenza.

Questo progetto non nasce per ambizione personale, ma dal desiderio profondo di restituire qualcosa a una terra che mi ha dato le origini e a bambini che meritano un futuro migliore.

My name is Bussi Filippo. I was born in Monrovia, Liberia, to an Italian father and a Liberian mother. When I was 2 years old, in 1983, my family moved to Italy, where I completed my entire education and grew up.
Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I had one great passion: football (soccer).
I played regularly, and many people around me believed I had the potential to reach high levels. My dream was to become a professional footballer, not only for personal fulfillment, but because even back then I had a clear idea: one day returning to Liberia and building a football field for children.
Unfortunately, in 1997 my father passed away.
From that moment on, my life took a different direction, and many things changed, including my sporting path. The dream never disappeared, but it was put on hold.
In 2005, I returned to Liberia for the first time after many years and found a country deeply marked by a long civil war.
The destruction was not only visible in the streets and buildings, but above all in the people. What struck me the most was the presence of so many orphaned children, alone and without any points of reference.
Yet, in the middle of all this, I witnessed something extraordinary:
an incredible amount of talent. Children who could play football, dance, and sing with a natural ability I had never seen anywhere else. What shocked me most was that none of them had ever studied or received any formal training for what they were able to do.
Today, twenty years later, I am the father of three children. I run a business in the center of Tivoli and work as a security manager for a company in Rome.
Life has given me responsibilities, stability, and awareness. And that dream, left on hold for many years, has now returned stronger than ever.
In recent times, I have not been alone on this journey.
A group of about ten friends decided to support me in a concrete way, and together we have already taken a first small but meaningful step.
We helped a family living in a shack that flooded every time it rained. With about 500 euros, we were able to:
• buy a bed, as they were sleeping on wet mattresses,
• carry out basic repairs to the shack they lived in,
• provide food for at least one month.
We know very well that this is just a drop in the ocean, but for us it was a concrete beginning, and we are deeply proud of it.
It proves that even with little, it is possible to do something real.
My goal now is to build an orphanage with an attached football field in Liberia, a safe place where children can:
• live,
• study,
• grow,
• and develop their talents, in sports and beyond.
I was advised to open a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.
I admit I am skeptical, but I believe that trying cannot hurt—especially when the cause is helping others, in this case, children.
At the moment, I am in the initial phase of the project.
In the coming days, I will meet with a friend who is an architect, to whom I will explain my idea in detail and define the path forward.
Everything will be documented: expenses, receipts, invoices, and project progress.
My commitment is to keep all donors constantly updated, step by step, with maximum transparency.
