Support Orchard House – A School for Children with Special Needs in The Gambia
On behalf of The Sadiq Trust, a UK-registered charity (number 1205430) founded by Dr Sadiq of Orchard Orthodontics. Our mission is to support some of the most vulnerable people in the developing world, including orphans, widows, and children with disabilities.
We are would be grateful for your donation to help create something truly life-changing: Orchard House, a school for children with special needs in The Gambia.
Special needs remain a significant taboo in many parts of Africa. Families often face isolation and struggle in silence. Some children are hidden away, and in extreme cases, restrained at home because parents lack resources, knowledge, or support. Many mothers raise these children alone, without access to education or therapy. Orchard House is changing that story.
Currently, the school supports 11 incredible children with conditions including Down’s syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy. Each child receives at least one daily meal, a basic education, and support to develop communication, life skills, and independence—empowering both the children and their families.
Dr Sadiq, along with two dedicated volunteers, Zafir and Will, will travel to The Gambia on 21st March 2026 to further develop the school, deliver resources, and work directly with the children and staff.
To maximise the impact of this visit, we’ve launched a £20,000 GoFundMe campaign. Donations will go directly towards:
Specialist furniture for children with cerebral palsy
A play area for the children
A sensory room for children with autism
Ramps and handles to make the school accessible for wheelchair users
Essential therapy equipment
Educational and sensory learning materials
Your support will provide desperately needed resources and directly transform these children’s lives. We are incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you for helping us change lives.
