Heart Safe Communities' Website highlights just how important this mission is:

-Every year, around 30,000 people in the UK suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital.

-Only around 3% of cardiac arrests happen within the recommended retrieval distance of 100 metre or 2-3 minute brisk walk of a defibrillator.

-Less than 10% of those experiencing cardiac arrest get help from a defibrillator (AED) before emergency personnel arrive.

-Around 50% of cardiac arrests are seen by someone, so bystanders can do much more to save lives.

-When CPR and a defibrillator are used within 10 minutes of Cardiac Arrest, the chance of survival doubles, potentially saving thousands of lives every year.
