PLEASE SUPPORT THE FAIRFIELD CIRCLE NEIGHBORS AGAINST THE 8-30G APPLICATION
We are Fairfield Circle residents coming together to defeat the oversized 8-30g housing application proposed for 441 Post Road—the site of the Circle Inn. On 5/6/25, the Planning & Zoning Board approved a development for this site. In February the developer filed a second application under Connecticut's 8-30g statute, which eliminates the hotel and diner, is 6 stories tall and has 478 apartments.
The project approved in early May was for 250 apartments, a 110 room hotel and to retain the existing diner. The decision of the town to approve this project is being appealed in court by neighbors who are concerned about the way that project will negatively impact the tidal wetlands, the safety at the circle intersection and their properties. In the meantime the town is proceeding, as they are required to do with this second application for 478 apartments.
This version of the project would bring:
-Increased traffic hazards at the congested Post Road and Circle
-Threats to the health of Turney Creek and Ash Creek and their surrounding tidal wetlands, which are vital to our local ecosystem
-Increasing safety concerns for pedestrians, drivers, bicyclists and especially school children in our community
Our goal is to defeat this gargantuan 8-30g project. Under Connecticut law, this can only be done by demonstrating that the proposal creates legitimate health and safety risks for this community and the tidal wetlands.
We are raising funds to support legal representation and hire environmental, traffic and planning experts to challenge this application effectively. With your help, we can stand up for our neighborhood and protect the integrity of Fairfield.
Please contribute what you can and share this campaign widely. Every dollar helps.
