Bobby Mello opportunity house for homeless veteran

My husband and I never patted ourselves on the back all the years that we've been doing what we've been doing, This is a story about how the opportunity house came to be.
Way back 6 years ago we got a phone call from someone saying there was a gentleman sitting on a corner in a wheelchair in hospital pajamas Do you think you can go out and see if you can help him.
Bobby got one of our bags together which includes some clothing, food and stuff and we went out.
We found this older gentleman in his early seventies sitting in a wheelchair in hospital PJ looking pretty sad. We said what happened guy oh I was in the veteran's hospital i wasn't feeling good they got done with me and they let me go they put my clothes in a bag let me wear these pajamas and I took a chair because I couldn't walk and this is where I'm at.
So since we've been working with a few people we called up the shelter and we got him over to the shelter and they admitted him or whatever you call it at the shelter he stayed there a couple days and he had some issues going on and they said we really can't keep him here and we said OK, So we tried the veterans outreach center and it takes a minute to get everything together because he did not have any identification any paperwork.
What we did was we went to one of our local monthly hotels got him a room we took the time out of our day like we did with every other person we helped and got his identification going got his paperwork going so he would get help with the veterans got his benefits back on track.
My husband said to me this is ridiculous what happens if there was nobody that could help this guy he'd be dead on the street who would there be to care I said I don't know Bobby I just don't know.
Right then and there we started looking for a house we had a friend say I know somebody we got this house the inside was pretty beat up we paid to have it fixed up not the government not the city not the county we paid for it to be fixed 7 bedrooms 3 bathrooms 6 years later we have helped over a 100 people move in and move out Steve was the number one we found his brother and the rest is history. I will never forget him Many people knew him that still support us to this day, These are a couple pictures of Steve the 1st day we met him the day that he was in the hotel room that my husband gave him a haircut and the day that he moved into the house.
These are things that my husband and I did but like I said we don't advertise what we do we don't go out there and say hey look what we do the reason I'm saying it now is because my husband is no longer here I don't have the funds that I used to have to run the opportunity house a matter of fact the opportunity right now has 0 funds I've been applying for grants I don't want to close this house down but if I don't start getting help I either have to hand it over or close it down I don't want to do that. I am praying that the event on September 18th that we can raise some funds and get our name out there we are A501 C3 I Tell people if you don't believe what I do come to the house and talk to the people and see for yourself.
Thank you all
