We are raising funds to help reunite an active duty Air Force member with his wife and special needs daughter!
Senior Airman Stephen Tupa serves as a military police officer with the 816 Security Forces Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. Throughout his seven years of service, the Air Force has kept the Tupa family together. Sr Airman Tupa’s wife, Lexi, and their daughter, Adri, lived with him on JB Andrews until June of 2022 when Stephen received transfer orders to New Mexico. So, as many military families do, Lexi and Adri left for New Mexico a few weeks before the official transfer date to search for a new home.
This is where our story takes a left turn into Whiskey Tango Foxtrot territory, courtesy of the US Air Force. Stephen's orders were canceled the day before he was set to check out of his squadron at JB Andrews, effectively leaving his wife and daughter deserted in New Mexico. The USAF will only pay one Basic Allowance and Housing (BAH) rate, which typically covers housing expenses for the service member unless they are deployed. Since Stephen isn't on deployment, he will only receive a single BAH to cover housing expenses near JB Andrews in Maryland. There are instances where the military may separate a family and provide a "Family Separation Allowance" in addition to the BAH. Unfortunately, the Air Force doesn't consider Stephen separated from Lexi and Adri since his orders to relocate to New Mexico were canceled and never executed.
We are raising the funds for a top-secret mission: to reunite the Tupa family and relocate Lexi and Adri back to Maryland over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
With the help of Stephen's direct supervisor he is getting the weekend off in what "HE THINKS" is just a visit with his wife and daughter after almost a year!
I will be streaming this live on twitch, you will be able to see his reaction to the news that they're home for good!
