We are a family of missionaries working with YWAM—Thiago (Brazilian), Danielle (American), and Alana (half and half). Our story together started when we met in Brazil in 2015, and since then, we have been working full-time in ministry as a family, mostly in Brazil. Recently, we started serving with YWAM in the United States.
It has always been a goal of ours as a family to adopt, and we have waited a long time. Finally, we have been matched! We received a call from our social worker on December 12th with the great news that a boy needed a family. Without hesitation, we said YES and fell in love with him immediately! It was hard to contain our joy as we finished the call and learned more about him. Alana (our daughter) asked if she was allowed to scream because she didn't know another way to express how happy she was!
His name means "Gift from God," and he is turning 1 in January (God willing, we will be there for his 1st birthday in January!).
TO DO THIS, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Since we started working as missionaries, we have been blessed by the generosity of the body of Christ. We don't receive a salary in YWAM; it is our friends, family, and church who believe in our calling and support us. Now, we want to ask you to consider praying and see if God leads you to be part of this exciting moment in our family! Every contribution, regardless of its size, holds the potential to make a big difference.
Our expenses include:
- Airplane tickets (USA to Brazil—for 3 / Brazil to USA—for 4—and a few other trips to the consulate in another state of Brazil, and back home to Philadelphia)
- Documents (his passport, American citizenship, translations, etc.)
- Medical expenses (he is hard of hearing and has a couple of health conditions; the government of Brazil is going to pay for a cochlear implant, but we may need to pay for a few exams)
- Transportation (we will need to go to a lot of places, do some visits with him before taking him home, appointments, etc.)
- Other (we are going to stay at our house at the YWAM base; we don't know for how long—it can take weeks or months—so we would like to have enough for our personal expenses)
