Above all - we want to thank our amazing supporters for y’all continued love, support and inspiration. Y’all really do push us. The love from our community has pushed us to see how important it is to create safe spaces for Queer folx. You’ve shown us how important it is to dance and share space with each other. How freeing it is. How it feels like family. How it feels like home. Home is where the heart is, and as a black woman and non-binary team we always try to represent our country of origin, Trinidad and Tobago. We know the stress of being separated and sometimes isolated from that which we love.We know how important it is to create tribe for folx that don’t have family here, and for folx who are not accepted by their family... We always want to create a space where people can come and feel seen and loved in their queer West Indian bodies. We deserve that space. We deserve to dance and never be afraid. So from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank y’all for inspiring us not only to have events but to build something bigger - A Village.
Curating events at different venues really inspired us to dream bigger. We (Dymond and Bri) always wondered how it would feel to have our very own space, and this past September, Satellite Art Club gave us that opportunity. We were able to curate events at their location for the entire month. And with only a week to prepare and plan, we were excited and dived into the opportunity head on. We reached out to you, our family and eventually created a calender filled with amazing queer events. We did karaoke, sing-a-long nights, parties, going away parties, happy hours, and pop up shops, anything we could think of. We were able to share the space with the community and folx were even able to curate their own safe space events.
No matter how early our day started, we left the bar everyday at 4am. We were so passionate about the opportunity! We would call each other - singing dreams of one day truly owning our own bar. Satellite Art Club really trusted us with their space to do whatever we wanted and for that we were beyond thankful. At the end of September we were tired but filled with experience, hopes, and even bigger dreams for the future. As we moved on and continued bouncing around at venues, DJing and curating, we knew it was finally time to find ourselves a home base.
After months of working and creating, our prayers and manifestations were answered! DRUM ROLL PLEASE! Our Big News is... these 2 Trinidad born queers was given the opportunity by Brian, owner of Satellite Art Club to take over the space, PERMANENTLY!
We are so grateful for this next step in our journey! We are so excited for the opportunity to have a business on historical Fulton Street in our beloved home of Brooklyn. If you lived in NYC in the early 2000’s, Fulton Street was a staple in the Queer Caribbean community. Our favorite bar Hoopz, that’s been closed for years, still has its original sign hanging at the old location. Waves of nostalgia sweep over us every time we think of all the good times and family we created behind those doors. We are inspired to create new memories and new connections right here, once again, together in this new space.
So we are asking the community, allies and friends, for help to get things running so that we can usher in the New Year with our Grand Reopening by February 2023!
Below is an idea of things that will be needed:

Our vision is to meet, to greet, to connect and to have fun in a safe place, created by US, for US.
Again thank you for being a part of a monumental time in our lives and thank you for believing that our community deserves to express, love, dance and be safe in our own establishments, our own neighborhoods, and in our own bodies.
