Imagine if one day you woke up to find that an airport had moved into your backyard.

OPA - Parkland Community Preservation is dedicated to exposing the negative effects that the Parkland Airport has had, and continues to have, on the Sandhills Community since its introduction in 2014.

Located 10 minutes south of Spruce Grove, this unwanted and unregulated facility seeks to expand its commercial endeavour with no thought of its neighbours or the environment it degrades.

The team behind Parkland Airport did not consult our community prior to being built, and continues to ignore our concerns and protests. Effects on the surrounding wildlife so far include the interruption of migration patterns of the Sandhills Crane, and other local birds and animals.

To our knowledge no environmental survey, studies, or assessment was conducted to explore the possible adverse effects this infrastructure would have on the wetland and the under ground water aquifers.

Further, we have discovered that measures were taken through a process called 'project splitting' to actively avoid these tests, which would have been necessitated by law had the company been truthful about the size and scope of the project.

The airport has devalued our homes, attacked our wildlife, and stolen our privacy for six years. There have been crashes, fuel dumps, shady dealings, and that is only the beginning. As the Parkland Airport seeks to expand, families here in Stony Plain are standing up to the corporation that invades our community.

Every plane and helicopter we hear flying low above our homes is a reminder. We ask you to join us in our fight and ensure that we who have lived on and cared for this land for generations have our voices heard.

100% of the funds we raise here will go towards a legal retainer. This will allow us to hire a lawyer for a class action lawsuit . Legal support is now essential for us to continue. Our pockets are not as deep as Parkland Airport. We have exhausted our resources and require council in our ongoing attempt to bring this matter to the courts.
