Bring an amazing playground to O'Neal Village!

Hi, my name is Matt, and I'm your neighbor here in the village. I have been working with our Homeowner's Association and TRG, our developer, to bring a playground to O'Neal Village. I'm excited to let you know that we are ready to bring this project to life! We have a location selected, playground equipment picked out, and more than 70% of the funding in place. Now, we need your help! Join your neighbors as we seek to raise $7,500 in order to bring an amazing playground to O'Neal Village for all our children to enjoy. Even if you don't have young children of your own, we welcome your support... after all, it takes a Village!

Where will the playground be located?

The playground will be located on common area property directly behind the pool. This spot was selected by TRG due to its proximity to parking and its complementary location next to the pool and other amenities. TRG is doing additional grading and adding a retaining wall to ensure adequate space, and is also extending the sidewalk from the parking lot directly to the new playground.

What kind of playground equipment will be included?

We will be purchasing commercial grade playground equipment that will stand the test of time with minimal maintenance. Our current fundraising goal will allow us to purchase a Granite Manor play system, a swing set with two traditional swings and two bucket swings, and the borders, mulch and benches needed to complete the site. If we exceed our fundraising goal, we'll purchase additional fun things like climbing walls, balance beams or store panels.

How much will it cost, and who is paying for it?

The total project cost is approximately $26,000, and the following funding is already in place:

So, we are seeking to raise an additional $7,500 through this fundraiser to meet the total $26,000 project cost. Again, if we exceed our fundraising goal, we'll add more fun play equipment for the kids!

Is this playground going to increase my HOA dues?

Not likely. The on-going costs for the playground will include replacing mulch each year and very occasional maintenance (again, we are installing top-line, commercial grade equipment to minimize maintenance costs). We don't anticipate these minimal costs leading to an increase in HOA dues, particularly as new residents add to the base.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

I have lived in O'Neal Village with my wife, Heidi, and son, David (age 4) since the summer of 2022. We absolutely love our neighbors and everything that O'Neal Village has to offer our family! Professionally, I am the Executive Director of the Upstate Greenways and Trails Alliance, where I help to build trails around the Upstate. I also have experience as a contractor and maintain an active Residential Specialty Contractor's license with the State of South Carolina. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to bring a playground to O'Neal Village, building on the incredible foundation we already have to make this a wonderful community for neighbors of all ages!
