Prior to COVID-19 many of our neighbours and under-serviced communities were struggling with access to healthy and affordable food. As someone who has made a career feeding people and sharing food, this has always been an issue for me. Now that we are all facing new challenges and a new way of life, one thing that remains the same is that some of our neighbours are still struggling with access to food. Help me do something about that.
Partnering with Nibbly, Toronto's newest online grocery platform, Toronto ride-share services and local social service organizations, I am developing an ongoing program called "One Love" that involves getting baskets of healthy food and toiletries to Toronto residents in need. There are a few ways you can support:
-Make a one time donation of any amount and the funds will be utilized to purchase food and essential toiletry items, and get them to Toronto residents in need
-Make a monthly contribution to continually support this effort. Any amount helps.
-Spread the word!
Funds raised will support clients of AfriCan Food Basket & Frontlines Toronto who have been doing amazing work for the past few decades and are leading the charge on food insecurity amongst black communities in Toronto. I will also be supporting the community of Regent Park with a focus on youth and seniors via my efforts at Paintbox.
The most frequently asked question I receive is "How much should I contribute?
The average person requires $50 per week to purchase essential food items and toiletries, so I suggest donating $50, but any amount is appreciated.
If you are interested in volunteering your time in lieu of donating funds, please email me. Thank you for considering supporting this initiative and I'm hopeful that we can make great positive impact together.
