Life doesn’t always give us the time and resources we wish we had, and I try my best to create a more stable world for my kiids. They have been my light and my reason to keep fighting. I do my best to try and fill their lives with love, laughter, and comfort, even in the darkest moments.
My name is Brittany, and many of you know that I have been fighting stage IV cancer for 3 years. No matter how strong and brave I’ve been, it’s been a devastating process for Ryan, which he was thrust into at 10 years old. He struggles to remember a time when I wasn’t sick, and we do everything we can to offer him as normal of a life as possible, but it’s extremely difficult. I am incredibly grateful for the support from my husband Al, and Ryan’s dad, Mike. I’m not sure how I would be getting through this without them.
Ryan plays the trumpet and has worked very hard to get to the place he is now. He has been offered the chance to perform at Universal Studios and Disney World over his April vacation, as part of a symphonic band and wind ensemble. He is so proud of himself for getting to this point in his life and being provided with this opportunity.
One of the more difficult things I’ve had to do recently was tell him I couldn’t afford to send him. The trip costs around $3,000, and my medical debt has become insurmountable, heavily impacting our lives. Having cancer has been shockingly expensive and extremely difficult to fight. Our health insurance out-of-pocket costs will also be resetting soon, which will only create additional medical debt. When I told him that I can’t send him, he tried to smile and tell me it’s ok, that he’s fine, but I could tell by the look in his face, he wasn’t. Talking about money struggles with children is not easy and not something they shouldn’t have to worry about. Cancer has taken so much already, and I hate that it’s taking an amazing opportunity like this one.
This is where I need your help. Between medical bills and daily struggles, the financial burden is simply too heavy for us to make this happen on our own. Every single dollar donated will go directly toward travel, lodging, and creating these memories, without the weight of hospitals and treatments.
Your generosity is more than money. It’s memories. It’s laughter. It’s love. It’s giving Ryan the chance to have an amazing experience that illness could never take away–beautiful moments that he will carry in his heart. He will experience diverse sights and sounds, from the iconic Cinderella Castle and Spaceship Earth to the lush landscapes of Animal Kingdom and bustling streets of Epcot's World Showcase. Experiencing thrilling rides with immersive soundscapes, watching parades and fireworks, and listening to classic Disney tunes and ambient park music. Experiencing cheerful greetings of cast members, the calls of exotic animals in Animal Kingdom, and the diverse languages and music from the different World Showcase pavilions. Being able to perform there is the large cherry on top.
Please, help me make this wish a reality for Ryan, for this memory will last a lifetime. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this with others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make this wish a reality.
