Help establish a nonprofit Therapy Pet Ministry

Hello! I am Tawney Roddy, founder of One PET at a Time Mobile Therapy Pet Ministry. Our mission at OPAAT is to provide mobile, cost-free therapy animal services and unique experiences to those who will benefit, including those in hospitals, elder care medical facilities, hospice care, and education centers. We will also partner with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and psychotherapists to help hearts and bodies heal through the human-animal bond.
All the funds accrued during this fundraiser will supplement our first and second financial goals: to raise legal fees for One PET at a Time to become established as a 501(c)(3) organization and to purchase specialized insurance for Animal-assisted Intervention Professionals.

I’ve always had animals and can attest to the benefits of the human-animal bond. When the human-animal bond is integrated into therapy sessions, facility visits, and education centers, this is professionally known as “Animal-assisted Intervention.” I am studying to become a Certified Animal-assisted Intervention Specialist (C-AAIS) through the Association of Animal-assisted Intervention Professionals.

Animal-assisted interventions are goal-oriented and structured interventions that intentionally incorporate animals in health, education, and human service for therapeutic gains and improved health and wellness. Typically, professionals use the services of AAAIP to learn how to incorporate Animal-assisted Intervention - or Therapy Pets - into their workplace and practices. Incorporating animals into the workday requires the professional to have an appropriate animal to participate in therapy, care for its well-being during the day, keep up-to-date with vaccinations, and the therapy pet’s hygiene, actively mitigate zoonosis risks AND care for the client, as well. I realize this may not be an option for many, so I am taking the vision of AAAIP one step further to help bridge the gap for those who would like to partner with animals in their profession but may not have access to appropriate therapy pets.

Uniting with my dog Willie, cat Squinky, and alpaca Marcus,
OPAAT will go wherever the healing is needed in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area.

Contributions are not tax-deductible at this time; however, please consider a donation to help us get on the road to helping hearts heal and establishing our non-profit status.

On behalf of Willie, Squinky, Marcus, myself, and all those whose therapeutic participation will bless, THANK YOU!!
