A beloved Heritage Elementary School teacher, Ms. Fiddis‑Stewart, has close family in Jamaica who were hard hit by Hurricane Melissa. Their home took on water, windows were destroyed, and they’re staying in temporary housing without dry beds. Everyone is safe—but daily life is difficult, and they urgently need essentials.
We’re rallying the HES (Heritage Elementary School) community around Ms. Fiddis‑Stewart and her family in Jamaica. After the storm, her parents’ house flooded and several windows blew out. They’re scraping by in temporary housing, with damp sleeping spaces and dwindling access to food and clean water.
Our goal is to ease the immediate burden so they can stabilize and begin repairs. If you’re able, please donate—and just as importantly, share this link with friends and neighbors. Every act of kindness counts.
How funds will help:
Essentials: clean water, staple foods, hygiene supplies
Safe rest: dry bedding, mattresses, and basic furnishings
Urgent repairs: window replacement and materials to secure the home
Bridge costs: short-term needs tied to temporary housing and transport
We’re also thinking about planning a 5th‑grade Bowl‑A‑Thon at Strike & Barrel (Wake Forest) on December 17 to celebrate our community's support. Please stay tuned.
