Once-in-a-lifetime trip to Give Kids The World for Logan
Donation protected
We are running a half marathon in July for our nephew Logan's once-in-a-lifetime trip to Give Kids The World. Logan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in April 2023 and has been on a long treatment journey over the last 2 years. He is the bravest little boy who deserves a fantastic adventure and a chance to live every child's dream of going to Disneyland after everything he has been through. This special trip with Kids Cancer Charity will give Logan and his family a much needed holiday and an opportunity to create lifelong memories.
Kids Cancer Charity are able to assist families with a week stay at Give Kids The World Village, an incredible, non-profit resort in Kissimmee, Florida, set up to provide magical week-long stays for children with critical illnesses and their families. A stay here includes accommodation, meals and theme parks tickets. The family can also have an additional 7-nights’ accommodation at Kids Cancer Charity’s Villa in Kissimmee, which is available to the family between the 6th-20th February 2027. However, as a Charity (we are not a Wish Granting Organisation), we do not have the funds to support families with any costs for their trip, and as such families need to raise money for the following:
GKTW Support Fee: The fee for a stay at the Village is expected to be third-party fundraised and not to come out of the family’s pocket in order to meet the Give Kids The World criteria. This fee currently stands at $1,150 (+ a 3% transfer fee) for the whole family to stay in villa type accommodation for 7 nights and includes meals and park tickets. Payment is required 4 weeks before the family travels and, depending on the exchange rate, averages about £950 per family.
In addition, families also need to find the money for the following costs, which any extra money raised over the £950 goal will go towards:
- Flights: Costs are dependent on the time of year and availability.
- Travel Insurance: This is essential for travel to the USA and if a child is still in treatment, or has recently completed treatment, the cost can be high.
- Passports: if not in place already
- ESTA’s: The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is a pre-authorisation process prior to arriving at US immigration. The fee is $21 per person.
- Vehicle Hire: A hire car is recommended at both Give Kids The World and the Charity’s Villa
This programme is only offered on a once-in-a-lifetime basis and gives families the precious gift of time together, in an environment where they can create valuable lasting memories to cherish.
