On behalf Of Freedom For Leonard Peltier!
November 2022 - DC

In a compassionate plea and support of clemency for Leonard Peltier! We, the Oyate, an indigenous roots group, seek to make a change and ask for help and support in our travels and expenses for our Coalition of Freedom For Leonard Peltier! The Coalition consists of a group of traditional singers, indigenous activists and elders from New Mexico, Pine Ridge and Rosebud, South Dakota, coming to DC to support the Walk For Justice for Leonard Peltier in mid-November. AIM/GGC have organized the prayer walk we will greet and support in DC. We invite all people of conscience to converge on DC to demand immediate freedom for Leonard Peltier! All funds raised here are going to our Independent coalition to support AIM/GGC.

Our group needs funding to travel from New Mexico to Wounded Knee, SD and on to DC for events and ceremonies, bringing attention to the need for clemency of Leonard Peltier. Our Coalition includes elders, the Ta Oyate Olowan drum from Wounded Knee, The Swift Bird Drum and traditional singers supporting the prayer walkers’ arrival in DC. Leonard’s Freedom can begin a process of healing for First Nations Peoples that is long overdue and deeply needed!

Peltier (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians), now 78, has spent the last 46-plus years in federal prison. AIM hopes the walk will raise awareness for Peltier’s plight and pressure President Joe Biden to grant executive clemency to Leonard. Our supportive group will travel to assist in empowering that plea.

All funds will go directly to vehicle expenses, gas money and essential funding to facilitate this trip. We are seeking funds for a bus to safely transport this supporting grassroots collective. The group plans to travel the first week of November to arrive in DC on November 13th, 2022, for the Sunrise Pipe Ceremony welcoming the Walkers completing their 1,100-mile sacrifice on behalf of Leonard’s freedom and kicking off the week of actions in DC. Come and get involved in supporting the walkers for Leonard’s freedom with us!

-$5,000 for a bus
-$5,000 in gas and shuttles
-$5,000 in lodging
