What is OmniMed?
OmniMed is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded by four Emory students who were shocked by the difference in healthcare infrastructure for charitable clinics and private clinics. There are three main options to obtain healthcare for the large percentage of Americans who lack health insurance: pay out of pocket, forego medical care altogether, or visit overburdened charitable clinics. Because we believe that healthcare is an inalienable human right, OmniMed aims to minimize healthcare inequality. OmniMed aims to develop tools to help get patients in front of the right provider at the right time, help free clinics adopt new technologies to become more efficient at the lowest cost to them, and educate the community on their insurance options. By bringing in students early in their careers to achieve these goals, we hope to break the cycle of healthcare inequality and form leaders who are ready to make their neighborhoods more equitable.
How Your Support Helps
Every donation helps us carry out our mission to make healthcare more equitable with three specific goals:
• Training Emory students to become insurance navigators and sending them to help eligible patients enroll in insurance programs
• Developing a tool for Atlanta patients to easily and accurately assess their healthcare options
• Researching and subsidizing health IT tools that would improve charitable clinics' ability to care for their patients
