Why?
Many of you know that I am an avid reader. For my Mitzvah Project, I wanted to do something that I could really connect to. During COVID, libraries and schools are closed, and children in under-resourced communities have lost access to books. I knew instantly that I wanted to be part of the solution. I imagined if I didn’t have access to books and how that would have shaped me in the long run. Reading transports me to other worlds, teaches me empathy and perspective, and is just a nice way to end a day. What would I be without all these things?
What?
I have joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula to bring a network of Little Free Libraries to East Palo Alto (EPA), a diverse and under-resourced neighborhood just across the freeway from my house. We plan to fill these Libraries with books reflecting the population of these neighborhoods, purchased exclusively from independent booksellers through a partnership with www.bookshop.org. We have already purchased the first one, to be installed in front of the BGCP in EPA, and with your help, we hope to install a network of these Libraries throughout EPA by the end of this summer. How?
Donate today to my GoFundMe site - 100% of donations will be used to build, plant, and stock Libraries in communities served by the BGCP, starting with EPA.
