Olivia vs. Cancer

Meet Olivia; a happy-go-lucky, sweet, almost 3 year old with a huge problem. On Monday, 6/18/18, Livy was diagnosed with a Wilm’s Tumor, a type of nephroblastoma (kidney cancer) often seen in children under 5. Until recently, she was perfectly healthy. The past few weeks, she has had some intermittent fevers & was seen by her primary doctor but nothing serious was suspected. This past weekend, her parents noticed some bloating in her belly & a hardened area. The massive tumor was noted on her CT scan & her parents, Kendra & Austin Lewis, were given the news that would turn their worlds upside down. Olivia, who will turn 3 on July 10th, will undergo a major abdominal surgery to remove the tumor as well has her left kidney, which is completely engulfed by the cancer. Following surgery, she will have several months of chemo & radiation. Olivia has a 4 year old brother, Isaac, & a 10 year old sister, Emma. Kendra & Austin, who live in Aaronsburg, will be juggling Olivia’s treatments in Hershey as well as working full time & caring for their other children. I’ve started this page to ask for donations for this family as they embark on what is sure to be the most difficult thing they have ever faced. They will need extra money for gas, hotel rooms, childcare, & various medical expenses. Olivia is expected to make a full recovery but the journey to get there will be long, trying, & scary.
