Oliver's Eagle Project

My name is Oliver Adams, and I hope to achieve my Eagle Scout rank this year after being in Scouts since 1st grade.

The project I will be doing to earn the Eagle Scout rank benefits Stars for our Troops and entails cutting cantons (the top left portion of the American flag with stars) from American Flags needing to be retired. These cantons will be sent to Stars for our Troops, and members of that organization will cut the individual stars out and distribute them to veterans. In addition, I will be retiring all cut flags and will cut out additional stars that members of Troop 861 and I will personally distribute to veterans in the DFW area

This cause speaks to me because of my great grandfather, Robert O. Wierdsma. He was a decorated P.O.W in WWII, and I am proud he fought for our country. I feel this is an excellent way to honor him and other veterans.

My project will take place on October 2nd, and the funds raised will be used to purchase supplies needed to complete my project.

Excess funds raised will be directly donated to Stars for our Troops
