Here is a YouTube video about me and my story so far:
Hi there,
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Oliver and I’m a 16 year old triathlete. I’m reaching out to you all to share an incredible opportunity that lies ahead of me in July 2026.
During the month of July, I will be volunteering with Camps International in Kenya. This isn’t just a chance for me to travel; it’s a mission to give back, help those less fortunate and contribute to meaningful changes in a community that really needs it.
Camps International specialises in organising sustainable development programs that have a lasting positive impact on local communities and the environment.
As part of this opportunity , I will be working on a variety of projects aimed at improving living conditions, education and access to essential resources for Kenyan communities.
These efforts might include things like building schools, creating water systems, or even conserving the natural habitat and I couldn’t be more excited to dive in and make a difference.
However, as you might imagine, this volunteering opportunity does come with its own financial challenges. That’s why I’ve already been hard at work raising funds. So far I’ve been raising money through car washing, selling things through Vinted and eBay and finally having sweet stalls at school events.
But now, I’m on my final stretch to achieve these funds. This April, I’ll be taking on my biggest challenge yet. A challenge that will really test my perseverance and willpower. On Easter weekend, I will be taking on the mammoth journey of cycling the full 127 miles of the Leeds to Liverpool canal in only 2 days. This will seriously push me to my limits but I’m determined to complete it for a cause that means so much to me.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to ask for your support in helping me reach Kenya and to take part in this impactful mission.
The funds I raise will cover essential costs tied to the work I’ll be doing in Kenya.
This trip isn’t just about what I can do for Kenya it’s also about the personal growth I’ll experience along the way. By stepping outside my comfort zone, I hope to develop a greater sense of empathy, resilience and responsibility. I am committed to using this experience as a stepping stone for a lifetime of giving back and creating a positive change wherever I can.
Your support, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in helping me make this dream a reality. Whether it’s a financial donation, words of encouragement or sharing this page with anyone else.
Together we can make a difference, not just for me but for the communities in Kenya that will benefit from these projects. Your generosity will have a ripple effect, touching lives far beyond what anyone can imagine.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting my journey. I promise to carry your kindness with me as I work to make a difference in Kenya.
