For Years, We Put Our Daughter First. Now We’re Trying to Find Home.

For years now, we put Khione and our family first—and things like finances had to take a back seat. I’ll be honest: we’ve barely scraped by. The only reason we’ve stayed afloat at all is because of my mom’s support.

There were hospital stays that lasted months. Moves we made because they were better for Khione, even if they set us back financially. The biggest was our house in Maryland—we invested everything into it, but it no longer worked for our needs, and we were never able to recover what we put in.

Now we’re trying to get to a better place. We’re trying to heal—not just emotionally, but financially. We’ve been working on this from every angle, and one thing becomes clearer every time: we need stable housing. Right now, we’re renting—and it’s just not sustainable. The rent is high, the emotional toll of being in the house where Khione passed away is heavy, and after so many moves in such a short time, what we long for most is to settle down somewhere safe and permanent.

We’ve been approved for a VA home loan and are actively searching for a modest home that fits our needs. But the logistics of getting there are overwhelming. We’re humbly asking for help with:

Moving expenses

Setting up our new home (fencing for the dogs, utilities, etc.)

Covering potential overlap between mortgage and rent

Leaving our lease in good faith (our landlord has been kind, and we want to honor that)

This isn’t about starting over. It’s about finally landing. Finding our footing after years in survival mode. Honoring Khione by building something stable for our family.
