My name is Ojas Tamhane, and I am a rising senior. I am also a member of our local Boy Scouts troop, Troop 489, and am currently working on my Eagle Scout Service Project.

I will be building three custom-designed memorial benches and a garden at the Hillsborough Township Municipal building. These benches are in memory of Gary Verhoorn, to honor his impact on the community. He founded the Hillsborough Resolution Run, which is a major contributor and supporter of Hillsborough High School Project Graduation, with January 1, 2025 being the 25th anniversary. By encouraging countless to be active through his creation of Resolution Run, his impact on the lives of others through his passion for exercise and charity was far beyond his personal circle. Each year, Resolution Run brings together hundreds of people on January 1st to start their year positive through a 5K walk or run. He completed 18 Iron Man Triathlons, as well as countless marathons, half-marathons, and other races, encouraging and helping others to also pursue these challenges. These benches will have bike frames as their sides, inspired by Gary’s love for biking.
