Help OCC Get Sex Ed Certified!
Donation protected
Ozark Circle for Choice is a mutual aid collective focused on reproductive justice in Northwest Arkansas and we want to bring science-based, age-appropriate, inclusive sex ed to our communities!
We met with folks at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship to learn more about their sex ed curriculum, Our Whole Lives. They recommended attending a training in North Carolina this August to become course facilitators.
Why OWL?
The standard sex ed provided in Arkansas' public schools leaves some gaps. It's required to focus on abstinence with no requirement for medical accuracy, and many topics are banned altogether for kids before 5th grade.
Our Whole Lives offers an age-based curriculum to teach sexual health and wellness across the entire lifespan. It's a secular program produced by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ, and is designed to be as accessible as possible.

What we're doing
We're sending a group of four volunteers to North Carolina for three days in August to attend facilitator training for the core OWL content. Our goal is to lead a course this fall for a small group to work out the kinks and then expand from there! Ideally, we can onboard other folks into the curriculum as we gain familiarity with the content.
Every person we can teach gets us closer to a world where we can all have the information we need to make safe, informed decisions.
What we need
Per person, our fundraising goal breaks down to:
- $400 for course tuition
- $60 for materials
- $300 for travel
- $35/day for lodging/meals/etc
That's a total of $3600 altogether. Every donation helps us get closer to this goal!
