OBE (Our Beloved Elders) Windrush Tea Party 2025

Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m the founder of Camden Black British History, a community hub based in Kentish Town, once the vibrant heart of Camden’s Windrush community.

In honour of the borough’s pioneering Windrush generation, I’m once again hosting The OBE Tea Party, a heartfelt celebration dedicated to Our Beloved Elders, the generation who played a vital role in rebuilding Britain after the devastation of World War II.

Date: Sunday 22nd June 2025

Time: 3.00pm-6.30pm

Thanks to the incredible support of donors like you, we raised over £700 through this very GoFundMe page last year, which helped make the event a beautiful success. It was so well-received by the community that we’ve been inspired to bring it back again this year - bigger, better, and with even more love.

Although we’ve received some support from the local council, resources are still very limited. That’s why I’m reaching out again. Your donations will help us create a warm, joyful, and meaningful celebration filled with music, stories, good food, and community spirit, honouring a generation whose legacy should never be forgotten.

We’re aiming to raise £3,000, which will go directly toward creating a dignified and memorable event for our special guests. Here’s how your contributions will be used:

£1,000 – Catering: A lovingly prepared spread of Caribbean dishes and traditional tea party treats for our elders and community.

£1,250 – Gift Cards for Our Beloved Elders: Twenty-five £50 Sainsbury’s gift cards to support our special guests during the ongoing cost of living crisis, a small gesture of appreciation for their lifelong contributions.

£250 – Competition Prizes: Fun and engaging prizes for activities and games during the event, helping to create joyful memories.

£250 – Printed Invitations: Beautifully designed invitations to ensure our elders feel truly valued and celebrated.

£250 – Event Banners and Signage: Professionally printed banners to honour the Windrush generation and create a welcoming, festive atmosphere.

With your help, The OBE Tea Party will be a beautiful celebration of love, gratitude, and recognition for those whose lives and contributions have shaped our borough and our country.
