Miss Oakley was born with Angelman Syndrome.
Angelman Syndrome is a deletion of the 15th chromosome.
Those born with Angelman Syndrome experience severe neurological and developmental disabilities.
They can also experience walking and balance disorders, seizures, gastrointestinal, eating and sleep problems. They also have little to no functional speech.
Miss Oakley experiences all of these.
She is one of two known to have this diagnosis out of a population of nearly 92,000 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.
As Miss Oakley has grown , it has become more difficult to lift her (and her wheelchair) in and out of their family's vehicle.
We are asking for help to purchase this van.
It is handicapped accessible, which will keep her safe in her wheelchair now and as she grows older.
You will be helping two families with the purchase of this van.
Miss Oakley's and the person selling it( who recently lost her spouse).
Miss Oakley is the daughter of Alexandra Albaugh-Bailey (a 2011 graduate of Claymont High School and Buckeye Career Center) and Tyler Bailey (a 2012 graduate of New Philadelphia High School)
PLEASE help make this NECESSITY a REALITY.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
