Oaklee Grace Gentry is a very happy 14 month old girl, whose parents are Jordan and Katlyn Gentry all from Greene County VA. She is an only child, as her identical twin passed away at 16 weeks gestation. Oaklee was born a preemie and has faced several challenges in her short life. By God's grace she faces each obstacle with grace and a huge smile. On the morning of Friday December 27, 2019 Oaklee's mom went in to wake her. with plans of taking her to the babysitter. Oaklee was found lethargic and one eye drawn as if she had a stroke. Oaklee was airlifted to UVA where within the hour a brain tumor was found covering a quarter of her brain. The pressure on her brain was at a very dangerous level and she was rushed into the operating room within an hour of being there. Doctors said she had to have life saving surgery to remove pressure from her brain. They were able to remove 95% of the tumor. Okalee has been recovering remarkably and still smiles everyday. She was released from UVA on Thursday January 2, 2020 where she has been able to recover at home in a familiar and restful environment.
Needless to say the stress of the waiting for pathology results have been very stressful on her parents. The results were finally received on Tuesday January 7, 2020. The news was not at all what anyone was expecting. Oaklee has stage 3 brain cancer. She will need to undergo chemo and will have to receive treatments somewhere other than UVA as she needs more aggressive treatment and medicines that can better be treated at another medical center.
Katlyn and Jordan have both have had to take leave from their jobs while they give not only Oaklee strength through this but as well as each other, Ironically both parents are employed with UVA and Katie is actually an employee if UVA Children's Hospital at the battle building and works in the outpatient operating room.
Jordan, Katie, Oaklee and the entire family are asking for prayers, positive thoughts and any donations to assist with travel cost, medical expenses and daily needs during this time.
May God bless each and every one of you and we pray that if you are not sure of your salvation with the amazing God we serve, that you feel free to email or contact us. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave HIs only begotten son that whosoever believeth in should not perish but have everlasting life.
