In January of 2019, a series of circumstances led me to the decision to seek custody of my two children. My relationship with them had suffered since my divorce, and despite therapy and all of my best efforts, it was deteriorating into non-existence.  I was told by the therapists that I needed to have uninterrupted time with the kids to rebuild our relationship, and this meant giving up my career of 25 years, as my current job required me to travel. 

I followed the advice of the lawyers and therapists, came off of the road, and started a legal process which ultimately resulted in my gaining temporary custody of my children.  It was a hard road filled with difficult decisions, but it paid off. The kids thrived, and our relationship rapidly and radically improved.  Of course, all of this came at a price. I went through my entire savings to pay for therapists, experts, lawyers, and multiple days in court. All without the ability to go to work.

In September, the same set of circumstances that led me to seek custody resulted in me being awarded full custody of the kids. I’m now a single dad, making far less money as I pursue a new career, and carrying around $30k of legal debt, with even more to come with future court dates.

This has not been an easy road to travel, but I would do anything for my family. Please know that your generosity will lessen the daily financial burden I now face and it will also help with the additional costs that are still to come. I thank you in advance for any help you can give.
