On November 2nd, I will be participating in the New York City Marathon for the fourth year in a row. This year, I will again be running on behalf of NYC Outward Bound Schools. NYC Outward Bound Schools is an organization that partners with 75+ public schools in New York City with a mission to engage students in equitable, immersive, and joyful learning experiences that prepare them for success in college, careers, and beyond.

As someone who truly values education, I believe it also extends beyond the classroom. Partnering with NYC Outward Bound Schools focuses on integrating social, emotional, and academic development (SEAD) into the broader educational model. This approach helps students develop leadership skills, a sense of belonging, and the ability to persist in the face of challenges. This organization allows me to both support a meaningful cause I can get behind and one that touches me personally given my two children currently enrolled at PS6 (and hopefully a third in a couple of years).

Over the last three years, I have personally raised over $10,000 leading to a total impact of $25,000 after corporate & additional philanthropic matches. These donations enable NYC Outward Bound Schools to not only continue serving the schools - in 2024 they served more than 24,000 students and 2,500 educators across 77 NYC public schools - but also, host special events such as The Big Rappel (link here).
