On 26 July 2025, the Presley family’s world changed forever. Matt (42), a loving husband and father, suffered a devastating brain bleed caused by a rare and undiagnosed condition known as an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation).

What began as a normal Saturday morning — preparing to take his son to sport — turned into a nightmare. Without warning, Matt was struck by a sudden, severe headache and lost movement in his leg. His wife, Gemma, immediately called an ambulance. In front of her and their children, she watched helplessly as Matt’s condition rapidly deteriorated —A traumatic memory that weighs heavy on her.

Matt was rushed into emergency brain surgery to stop the bleeding and spent three weeks in ICU under heavy sedation, followed by four more weeks on a neurological ward. Doctors faced a delicate challenge: another rupture could have been life-threatening, but surgery also carried significant risk.

After seven long weeks of waiting, Matt underwent high-risk surgery to remove the AVM. Against the odds, the operation was a success — but he remains in an induced coma as his brain heals. Doctors will only wake him slowly when they are confident it is safe, leaving Gemma and their children enduring yet another agonising wait. The long-term effects remain uncertain.

With Matt unable to work for the foreseeable future, and Gemma also unable to work as she is by his side daily while caring for their young family, their financial future is deeply uncertain. When Matt is well enough after extensive rehabilitation with a goal to return home, the family will need to make significant modifications to their home to support his recovery.
