My 16 yr old daughter Alexus was admitted to MUSC on July 13th and little did we know our lives would change forever. After 25 hospital visits, 20 platelet transfusions, 15 blood transfusions, and over 50 times being poked with a needle she was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Her bone marrow is not producing any cells that our body requires to live. Lex has no immune system and has not been able to leave the house due to this. This has been devastating to our family. My precious daughter has been through so much over the past few months. Her brother Layton my nine year old son is a bone marrow match and will give his marrow to his sister. We thank God for this but is also very overwhelming. Alexus will undergo chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant in a few weeks in Charleston. We will be there for 100 days and she has to have 24/7 care. I will not be able to work and Lamar will also have to cut his hours to help. So many people have asked how can we help? We will have other ways to donate but I wanted to create this to start.
