Please take the time to read about our sweet Adriz.
Adriz was born with severe bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. We’ve been on this journey since he failed his newborn hearing screening after birth. We’re also in early intervention programs, and tons of therapies to get Adriz on track with where he needs to be! Which one of the main therapies is speech! When Adriz was about 4 months old he was given hearing aids which worked for a few months until they didn’t. Adriz is now cochlear implanted, he completed surgery the beginning of February this year and if you don’t know what those are! Let’s just say they’re amazing. Along with the surgeon who performed his surgery. Before she set our surgery date she had some requirements, an ekg and a brain MRI in order to make sure Adriz could withstand surgery. Adrizs MRI came back normal! His EKG came back abnormal. It was so hard and scary as a parent not knowing what to expect next. Along with the EKG eventually came an “echo” which if you didn’t know is a heart ultrasound. When this was performed we found out Adriz has what’s called left ventricular hypertrophy, which is basically the left side of his heart is thicker than normal, but it’s moderate and stable at this moment. During that echo we also found out Adriz has what’s called a right aortic arch, which is also abnormal. One of the concerns when having that arch is developing what’s called a vascular ring. A vascular ring is a ring that forms and wraps around the trachea and esophagus. This ring can cause breathing issues and digestive issues if not treated promptly. Also does not spare any room for an airway to grow as needed. After two trips to Aurora, Colorado this year where we’ve been seen at the Children’s hospital, we found out our Adriz has a vascular ring and will be needing surgery to assess it. This surgery is going to take place back in Colorado, and will require us to be away from home for 2-2.5 weeks. We would leave November 28th for pre op Monday November 29th, and surgery following Wednesday December 1st. Which is going to create financial hardship on us when it comes to food, gas and possibly lodging. Along with missing an entire work period. Which also, bills are still bills. If you’ve made it this far, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our story and know we wouldn’t be asking for help if we truly didn’t need it. This would help us immensely. Instead of worrying about finances, we’d be able to just focus on our son and his surgery. For your child as a parent you’d do anything you can for them and that’s why we’re doing this. For our sweet Adriz.
