Hello everyone,
I would like to bring your attention to a project that is incredibly close to my heart and urgently needs our collective support: the Grace Children School Project in Western Uganda. This vital project is run by RUCEF (Rural Child Empowerment Forum), a registered, charitable non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society.
About RUCEF and Their Mission
RUCEF was formed as a passionate initiative to advocate for and support the wellbeing of vulnerable children and youth living in the most rural and hard-to-reach communities of Western Uganda. They act as a channel of hope and transformation. Beyond providing education to orphans and homeless children, RUCEF launches vital WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) campaigns to extend safe water sources to communities and offers life-skills programs to empower youth who have dropped out of school.
The Project: A Safe Haven for 240 Children
Located in the rural village of Birimbi, the Grace Children School Project is the only orphanage school in the entire community. It currently cares for 240 vulnerable children. Many are orphans from needy families who cannot afford basic education, while others have run away from domestic violence, seeking shelter, refuge, and a fresh start within this supportive community.
However, providing for them is a massive daily challenge. The project faces a critical shortage of basic nutrition and essential school supplies. It is often incredibly difficult to guarantee even two meals a day for the children, and a severe lack of books and writing tools makes learning nearly impossible.
This is where we can step in. This fundraising campaign is strictly dedicated to raising donations for food supplies and scholastic materials so that every child can have at least 2 meals a day while getting their education!
Our Goals & Financial Milestones:
To make our impact as tangible as possible, we are focusing on what matters most: the individual child. Just $15.26 USD changes a life and completely secures the needs of ONE child for an entire month!
Milestone 1: Daily Nutrition to Fight Hunger
- Cost per child: $7.85 USD per month.
- The Impact: This funds at least two nutritious meals every single day for one child for a month, allowing them to focus on learning without a hungry stomach.
- The Big Picture Goal: We need a total of $2,000 USD to fully secure the food supplies for all 240 children for one month.
Milestone 2: The Monthly School Supply Package
- Cost per child: $7.41 USD per month.
- The Impact: This provides one child with their monthly learning kit, including 3 notebooks, 3 colored pens, 3 standard pens, and 3 pencils so they can actively participate in class.
- The Big Picture Goal: We are raising a total of $1,500 USD for these vital writing supplies (for context, a bulk box costs $150 USD and supplies children with 7 exercise books each for their notes).
Milestone 3: Essential Textbooks for the School
- The Impact: Education is their path out of poverty. Beyond personal notebooks, the school urgently needs proper textbooks so that the teachers can deliver quality, structured lessons.
- The Big Picture Goal: We aim to raise $1,000 USD to cover the required textbooks for the curriculum.
