We’re more than 750 healthcare workers that have been bargaining for a fair contract for over a year. Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is the only Level II Trauma Center for the region and continues to report massive profits, yet Providence is still trying to force us to accept a contract full of takeaways.
In February, we voted overwhelmingly to authorize a five-day strike. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we chose to delay our strike to prepare for a surge that fortunately never came. But in response, Providence has demanded that we, the essential workers, give up what is essential to us: our sick time and access to affordable healthcare. These takeaways are unacceptable. Now, even more of us are ready to strike than before and we're saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Whether it's devastating wildfires and mandatory evacuations, a global pandemic, or even delaying our own right to strike for months on end, we've demonstrated time and time again that we will always put our community first. But what's Providence's priority? Corporate greed.
None of us want to strike, but we know that striking is our best way to get Providence to listen and be accountable. We are standing up for our patients, our community, and each other. Providence is responsible for placing us in the position of having to fight to protect our patients, our values, our benefits and our co-workers.
