Help Keep Our Family Together: Support Needed

Update: We submitted the needed forms in May. We submitted both the form for permanent residency and one for a work permit with fees paid. Unfortunately, the work permit was rejected because the fee amount we submitted was incorrect. We were told it was $260 but with recent changes it's now $520. The permanent resident form was rejected due to me not providing enough proof of income and other concerns, further delaying getting Alex his green card AND work permit to be able to start working. We need to pay the remaining balance for the work permit and with new changes we need extra funds to consult our lawyer regarding his green card. I feel terrible asking for more help- but I lost my job at the beginning of June leaving us very behind on bills and no extra funds for these new costs. While I have a new job, waiting for my first checks and getting caught up will further delay our hopeful approval.
I never wanted it to come this- but I don't have a choice. A little back story- My husband is from Mexico. We met online 2 years ago, fell in love, started the process for a K1 visa to get him to the US, spent 7 months in Mexico with him until the visa was approved, and we moved back here in January of this year. We had three months to get married so we can start the process of a Change of Status ( Green Card). We were married on March 22nd and we need to start the Green card application VERY soon. If we do not- he will be here illegally and faces deportation. And possible banning from being allowed to come back. The current administration has shaken up the immigration process. We spent over a year learning all we can about this process but so much has changed in such a short time- new forms, new processes, new requirements, increased fees. We are terrified to navigate this alone. We desperately need to hire an immigration lawyer to help us navigate this new landscape so we do this correctly and legally. Failure will result in my husband being deported back to Mexico. I am the only one working as he is unable to work while here on a visa. Juggling all our bills, supporting him and I and all our needs, plus saving for what I thought was all that was needed for filing fees for the Green Card- I'm drowning. I wanted to do this all on our own. I'm doing all I can and so is he within our restrictions and it's not enough. I am so scared everyday I will lose my husband. Any help will be appreciated beyond words.
